Spelling Rules
The Journal of Turkish Republic Historical Research publishes original and previously unpublished scholarly studies that contribute to the historical, political, social, economic, and cultural processes extending from the founding of the Republic to the present day, as well as to the history of the Republic of Turkey and related social science fields.
All manuscripts submitted to the journal must be prepared in accordance with the following principles:
1. General Writing Rules
Language: Turkish or English. Clear, understandable, academic, and neutral language must be used.
File Format: Microsoft Word (.docx).
Font: Times New Roman, main text 12 point size, footnotes 10 point size.
Line Spacing: 1.5; text justified.
Page Layout: All margins 2.5 cm.
Paragraphs: Paragraphs must be separated by a single line; no extra space must be allowed within a paragraph.
Abstract and Keywords: A Turkish and English abstract (150–250 words) and 4–6 keywords in each language are required.
2. Headings and Subheadings (According to APA 7)
Headings must be used hierarchically and consistently.
Sample structure:
First level: Centered, bold, Capitalized.
Second level: Left-aligned, bold.
Third level: Left-aligned, bold + italic.
3. Citations and References – APA 7
Our journal adopts the APA 7th edition citation and reference system.
In-text citation examples:
Single author: (Akşin, 2010, p. 85)
Two authors: (Tekeli & İlkin, 2013, p. 75)
Three or more authors: (Tanör, Boratav & Akşin, 1997, pp. 75–76)
Institutional author: (Atatürk Research Center, 2011, p. 87)
Multiple sources: (Akşin, 2010, p. 55; Koçak, 2007, p. 80)

4. Quotations
Quotations shorter than 40 words are given within the text within quotation marks.
Quotations longer than 40 words are written in a separate block, 1 tab/5 cm indented, without quotation marks.
5. Tables, Figures, and Appendices
Tables and figures should be numbered (Table 1, Figure 1) and include explanatory titles.
They should be presented at high resolution (at least 300 dpi) and cited in-text.
Supplementary materials (Appendix 1, Appendix 2, etc.) should be clearly identified.
6. Footnotes
Only explanatory footnotes should be used, and they should be limited so as not to increase the text's size.
7. Ethical Principles, Plagiarism, and Evaluation
All articles are subject to a Turnitin similarity check before being submitted to the peer-review process.
As a general rule, articles found to have high similarity rates, inappropriate plagiarism, excessive self-citation, or irregular citations may be rejected or subject to correction.
The journal adheres to the principles of COPE, DOAJ, OASPA, WAME, ICMJE, and the Budapest Open Access Initiative, as well as the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing framework.
The scientific, ethical, and legal responsibilities of the work belong to the authors.
Submission Checklist
Please verify the following before submission:
The work is original, has not been previously published, and has not been simultaneously submitted to another journal.
The article is in .docx format, Times New Roman 12 point, 1.5 line spacing.
An abstract in Turkish and English (150–250 words) and 4–6 keywords have been added.
The citation and bibliography system conforms to APA 7 standards.
A blinded version, devoid of author identification, has been uploaded.
Ethics committee approval and permission documents have been included if necessary.
The Turnitin similarity rate has been verified to comply with journal standards.
All authors have made a significant contribution to the work and approved the submission.
