Author Guidelines

The Journal of Research on the History of the Republic of Türkiye publishes original, unpublished, and scholarly works that contribute to the history of the Republic of Türkiye and related social sciences.

All manuscripts must comply with the following requirements:

1. General Formatting

  • Language: Turkish or English. The style must be clear, academic, and impartial.

  • File Format: Microsoft Word (.docx).

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt for main text, 10 pt for footnotes.

  • Line Spacing: 1.5, justified text.

  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides.

  • Paragraphs: Single extra space between paragraphs; no additional spacing within.

2. Headings (APA 7)

Use a consistent hierarchical structure in line with APA 7:

  • Level 1: Centered, bold, Title Case.

  • Level 2: Left-aligned, bold, Title Case.

  • Level 3: Left-aligned, bold italics.

3. Citation and References – APA 7

The journal follows the APA 7th edition referencing style.

In-text citation examples:

  • Single author: (Akşin, 2010, p. 85)

  • Two authors: (Tekeli & İlkin, 2013, p. 75)

  • Three or more authors: (Tanör et al., 1997, pp. 75–76)

  • Corporate author: (Atatürk Research Center, 2011, p. 87)

  • Multiple sources: (Akşin, 2010, p. 55; Koçak, 2007, p. 80)

Reference list examples:

  • Book:
    Berkes, N. (2002). Türkiye’de çağdaşlaşma. Yapı Kredi Yayınları.

  • Journal article:
    Akşin, S. (2010). Atatürk döneminde demokrasi. Ankara Üniversitesi SBF Dergisi, 47(1), 245–252.

  • Web source:
    Akandere, O. (2025, October 23). Dörtlü takrir. Atatürk Encyclopedia. URL

4. Quotations

  • Short quotations (<40 words): within the text, in quotation marks.

  • Long quotations (≥40 words): in an indented block, without quotation marks.

5. Tables, Figures, Appendices

  • Numbered (Table 1, Figure 1), with clear titles and captions.

  • At least 300 dpi resolution.

  • Appendices must be labeled (Appendix A, Appendix B, etc.).

6. Footnotes

  • Only explanatory footnotes are allowed and should be used sparingly.

7. Ethics, Plagiarism and Review

  • All submissions are screened via Turnitin before peer review.

  • Suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, redundant publication or unethical behavior may result in rejection.

  • The journal adheres to COPE, DOAJ, OASPA, WAME, ICMJE, and the
    Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.

  • Authors bear full responsibility for the academic and ethical integrity of their work.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Please confirm before submission:

  • The manuscript is original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.

  • The file is in .docx format, Times New Roman 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing.

  • Abstracts in both Turkish and English (150–250 words) and 4–6 keywords are provided.

  • In-text citations and references comply with APA 7.

  • A blinded version of the manuscript (without author-identifying information) is uploaded.

  • Ethics committee approval and permissions are attached where required.

  • Turnitin similarity has been checked and is within acceptable limits.

  • All authors have approved the submission and meet authorship criteria.
